I Didn't Waste Anytime Getting Up To Speed!
I didn't waste anytime getting up to speed beginning with my first term! I made a commitment to serve the public and I was going to keep it. I made several trips to Little Rock for training on different topics related to managing local governments. Some on my own dime.

Two Terms or eight years of experience.

Became a certified Arkansas city councilman by attending the required 21 hours of training through the Arkansas Municipal League.

Attended countless meetings, most were requested by me to learn and get up to speed, with mayors Peter Christie and John Flynn, Fire Chief Sims, Police Chief Graves, Staff Attorney Jason Kelley, CDS Director Doug Tapp and Director of Planning Taylor Robinson, Director of Finance Kim Hall, Streets Superintendent Karen Hunt and Asst. Superintendent Dan Downing, and many ride alongs with departmental employees.

Spent hours on the phone, or meeting with residents where they live to discuss issues or concerns important to them.

Prepared for 90+ council work sessions, 90+ council meetings, multiple special sessions and budget workshops.

Served on the city Depository Board, which makes decisions on investing unallocated cash reserves in secure low risk CD’s.

Served as the Chair of the Bella Vista Advertising & Promotion Commission (Discover Bella Vista). The goal is to responsibly brand, promote, advertise the virtues and benefits of Bella Vista and provide grants to local organizations for promotion of their events.

Sponsored several ordinance and resolution proposals to bring before the council.

Read and researched many documents in detail including city ordinances, state statutes, ACC and POA documents, and others.

Was the only council member, soon after being elected to my first term, that put a document together to demonstrate the shortfall in the collection of city sales taxes vs. other cities in Arkansas of the same population.

Drove to every parcel of land, of which there were many, that were submitted for rezoning consideration and applied the proper considerations required by law.

Was the only council member to complete a year over year actual expenditure vs actual revenue trending analysis by department, and in total, to demonstrate that Bella Vista would be operating in the red within two years after 2024 if tightening spending and capital expenditures were not managed properly.

Began researching the Village Wastewater operation to understand current user counts, current capacity being utilized and buildout plans for the near future. The exercise was meant to determine if there were any low hanging fruit and research whether the city could assist or partner in any way.
